Debbie Schultz’ IT Staffer Still Has Secret Congressional Account

The former computer technician at the heart of Debbie Wasserman Schultz’ widening IT scandal still has a secretive email account on the House of Representative’s email system, despite being banned from the Capitol since February.

Court documents obtained by the Daily Caller reveal Imran Awan’s formal email address was disabled after he was barred from the Halls of Congress, but he retained access to a phony email account, identified as 123@mail.house.gov.

According to sources, the account has been linked to Nathan Bennett, a congressional staffer with close ties to the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

“However this happened, it was not with my consent or control,” Bennett told the Daily Caller. “For the record, I do not, nor have I ever, had control of the 123@mail.house.gov email account or any other account connected with Imran Awan or his family.”

The secret account raises new questions over Awan’s access to classified material, and his ability to retrieve and share that information.

Imran Awan was arrested earlier this year at a Washington, D.C. airport, attempting to flee the country after funneling hundreds of thousands of dollars to his native Pakistan. Despite being banned from the Capitol in February, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz kept Awan on her payroll for months.
