It’s difficult to find a better example of a man who totally screwed the pooch and then got rewarded than former NSA boss Michael Hayden who was in charge of the agency before and during 9/11.
Hayden went on to lead the CIA under George W. Bush despite his leadership of the NSA during the most catastrophic intelligence failure in U.S. history and is now a highly sought after “expert” by fake news networks as an expert on terrorism. He’s an expert all right, 3,000 innocent people died on his watch.
While nobody has lost their lives under NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, he has a similar characteristic to Hayden in that he has been able to rake in the big bucks despite his disastrous tenure and totally botched handling of the national anthem protests as well as other issues during his tenure.
Sometimes, massively fucking up pays off, especially if you have the right type of friends.
Today it was announced that Goodell was finally able to get his obscene contract extended despite the fierce opposition of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones who called a spade a spade in terms of the lasting damage to the league that the Kaepernick circus would bring and was bullied into submission by liberal owners for speaking up.
And Roger is going to absolutely RAKE!

According to ESPN “NFL commissioner Roger Goodell signs five-year extension”:
Roger Goodell has signed a five-year contract extension to remain the commissioner of the NFL, according to a letter obtained by ESPN.
A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the new contract would be worth $200 million over the life of the contract — about $40 million annually — if owners approve all the bonuses and all the incentives are met.
The base salary of the new contract is in the single-digit millions, a source had told Schefter. Roughly 85 percent of the total potential compensation package is from bonuses, which would be subject to ownership approval and validation.
The six members of the NFL compensation committee, which had been granted permission to negotiate the extension, said it supported the signed contract in a letter to NFL owners.
“Our Committee unanimously supports the contract and believes that it is fully consistent with ‘market’ compensation and the financial and other parameters outlined to the owners at our May 2017 meeting, as well as in the best interests of ownership,” the letter said. “… We are pleased to report that there is a nearly unanimous consensus among the ownership in favor of signing the contract extension now.”
You can’t help wondering how much of this is really about Goodell whose allies in influential places far outnumbered his enemies’ ability to move on from this authoritarian klutz and how much was about virtue signaling and settling scores with Jones.
Thanks to the compensation committee, the course has been charted for the heart of the iceberg and the order of ramming speed has been transmitted to the engine room.
