Gentleman’s Quarterly, the same magazine that wrote an article titled “F*** Ben Carson,” taunted and mocked Fox viewers, and hired Leftist Insane Person Keith Olbermann to host a show, has made an unsurprising choice as its 2017 “Citizen of the Year”: former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

In their new issue, fawning over the man who initiated the disgusting habit of kneeling to show disrespect for the national anthem, GQ writes:
He’s been vilified by millions and locked out of the NFL—all because he took a knee to protest police brutality. But Colin Kaepernick’s determined stand puts him in rare company in sports history: Muhammad Ali, Jackie Robinson—athletes who risked everything to make a difference.
Yup. Ali went to jail; Robinson had bottles hurled at him, baseballs thrown 90 mph at his head and other players deliberately spiking him; and Kaepernick’s net worth has been estimated from $17.2 million and he received $39.4 million in the end from his seven-year deal in 2014.
GQ, in its expert opinion, huffs, “Approximately 90 men are currently employed as quarterbacks in the NFL, as either starters or reserves, and Colin Kaepernick is better—indisputably, undeniably, flat-out better—than at least 70 of them. He is still, to this day, one of the most gifted quarterbacks on earth.”
Not exactly.
Then, the ode to Kaepernick’s greatness:
And yet he has been locked out of the game he loves—blackballed—because of one simple gesture: He knelt during the playing of our national anthem. And he did it for a clear reason, one that has been lost in the yearlong storm that followed. He did it to protest systemic oppression and, more specifically, as he said repeatedly at the time, police brutality toward black people.
Systemic oppression?
Kaepernick told GQ that he has decided to remain silent; GQ adds, “Why talk now, when your detractors will only twist your words and use them against you? Why speak now, when silence has done so much?”
You wouldn’t have to twist much to see Kaepernick isn’t exactly the model U.S. citizen; here’s a short list of Kaepernick’s actions and rhetoric:
Wearing socks with policeman depicted as pigs; wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a picture of Communist tyrant Fidel Castro; supporting ESPN anchor Jemele Hill after Hill intimated President Donald Trump and musician Kid Rock were “white supremacists,” stating, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” never registering to vote by at least November 2016; tweeting “How can we truly celebrate independence on a day that intentionally robbed our ancestors of theirs?” on July 4, 2017, and adding he went “home” to Ghana.
If Kaepernick is the American citizen of the year in 2017, either it’s been a pretty rotten year or GQ doesn’t like America very much.
