John Cornyn Claims Senate Won’t Delay Health Care Vote, Will Come This Week

Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) said on Monday that he was “closing the door” on the option to delay voting on the Senate’s Obamacare repeal package, announcing on Twitter that he hoped for a vote this week:

Senate leaders suggested that delaying a vote wouldn’t help garner additional support for a bill that is already facing a tough passage, The Hill reported. The vote might come after the Congressional Budget Office releases its evaluation of the bill on Monday and leaders could reportedly change the bill to win other Senators’ support.

Five Republican Senators have already announced they would oppose the bill in its current form, casting more doubt over whether it will get enough support to pass. The bill would undo the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate and, in a move that angered Democrats, in particular, cut taxes for the wealthy.
