Straight White People Banned From College Safe Space

Diversity and inclusion in action.

The University of Minnesota offers a safe space that is open only to LGBT persons of color. Straight white people need not apply.U of M’s Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life hosts the group Tongues Untied, described as “a space by and for People of Color who identify as LGBTQIA and/or Same-Gender-Loving.” The group is named after a documentary of the same name. It’s mission is to “connect students, staff, faculty, and the Twin Cities community” on issues of race, sexuality, and gender, unless your white and not queer or trans:

For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia; however, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color.

The group’s Facebook page adds: “Tongues Untied is a space that was created by and for indigenous people and people of color who identify as queer and/or trans. If you identify as a queer and/or trans indigenous person or person of color, we welcome you to take part in our discussions.”

The school’s student services professional Jason Jackson takes part in the program and adds one other classification that is welcome to attend: “two-spirit people of color.”

This intersectional term further complicates matters as its definition is so vast, it’s almost meaningless. Wikipedia states:

Two Spirit (also two-spirit or twospirit) is a modern umbrella term used by some indigenous North Americans to describe certain spiritual people – gay, lesbian, bisexual and gender-variant individuals – in their communities. The term was adopted by consensus in 1990 at an Indigenous lesbian and gay international gathering to encourage the replacement of the outdated, and now seen as inappropriate, anthropological term berdache.

“Two Spirit” is not interchangeable with “LGBT Native American” or “Gay Indian”; this title differs from most western, mainstream definitions of sexuality and gender identity in that it is not so much about whom one is sexually interested in, or how one personally identifies; rather, it is a sacred, spiritual and ceremonial role that is recognized and confirmed by the Elders of the Two Spirit’s ceremonial community. While some have found the term a useful tool for intertribal organizing, not all Native cultures conceptualize gender or sexuality this way, and most tribes use names in their own languages. While pan-Indian terms are not always appropriate or welcome, the term has generally received more acceptance and use than the term it replaced.

Hope that clears it up! (So, now it’s LBGTQIAT-S? One day it will just be the whole alphabet.)

This uncontested racism and discrimination against white people is glorified by the Left. The hypocrisy is astounding. In the name of inclusion and diversity, Tongues Untied excludes non-LGBT whites, even if they’re “allies.” And just imagine the outrage if a whites-only group popped up on campus and an official page on the university website banned blacks from attending.

But here’s the reality: most people who aren’t as “woke” as these leftists aren’t looking for a safe space to retreat to anyway. Let them have their club. Just don’t act like it’s not university-sanctioned discrimination.
