An American hero who served in the Vietnam War broke out in tears while speaking with President Trump in Danang, Vietnam over the weekend, crying on the President’s shoulder as he sought to remember the nearly 60,000 members of the US military who died in the conflict.
Trump was in Vietnam as part of his two-week trip throughout Asia, appearing with US Veterans in a speech to mark the 50th anniversary of the deadly conflict that severely divided the nation.
“To each of you with me today, you are the heroes who fulfill your duty to our nation. And each of you, under the most difficult conditions, did what you had to do, and you did it well,” said the President.
“Mr. President, from my heart, thank you for your support of the military. It’s an honor to be here as one of seven Vietnam Veterans representing the 58,000 heroes who never made it home. Thank you so much,” said the Veteran, becoming visibly emotional before embracing the President.
