Exploring the Political Divide in Relationships – a Conversation with Jordan Harbinger – Episode 313

Jordan Harbinger is a popular podcaster out with a new show, The Jordan Harbinger Show, on the podcast to talk about his new show and the way people from different political backgrounds often interact.

They discuss how people can look at the same information and come to such different conclusions, especially when emotions are involved. They also cover the way people ignore evidence so stubbornly because their own confirmation bias works to bend the facts.

They consider whether there is a way to fix a relationship when people have such different political opinions, and Jordan offers some advice from his own life. Family members are refusing to speak to each other over politicians and political issues.

Also on the podcast, Chuck and Mark discuss the crackdown on conservative thought on social media, skewing the way different political positions are represented and allowed to be funded across Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and more.

About the guest:

Jordan Harbinger has always had an affinity for Social Influence, Interpersonal Dynamics and Social Engineering, helping private companies test the security of their communications systems and working with law enforcement agencies before he was even old enough to drive.

Jordan has spent several years abroad in Europe and the developing world, including South America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and speaks several languages. He has also worked for various governments and NGOs overseas, traveled through war-zones and been kidnapped -twice. He’ll tell you; the only reason he’s still alive and kicking is because of his ability to talk his way into (and out of), just about any type of situation.
