April Ryan Repeatedly Shouts: ‘Does Trump Admin Believe Slavery Is Wrong?’

Is that a serious question?

A slew of questions were hurled at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders as she ended the daily briefing, including a real wild one by CNN contributor April Ryan, who repeatedly shouted, “Sarah, does this administration believe slavery is wrong?”

Later on Twitter, Ryan said there were “crickets” in response to her query, even though the press briefing was officially over and Sanders refused all other shouted questions, too.

Ryan’s ridiculous ask was prompted by the comments from Chief of Staff John Kelly who called Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee an “honorable man” and stated that a “lack of compromise” launched the young country into the Civil War.

Sanders addressed those comments during the briefing:

“Look, all of our leaders have flaws. That doesn’t diminish their contributions to our country and certainly can’t erase them from history. And General Kelly was simply making the point because history isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it’s not our history… Look, I don’t think we should debate every moment of history. I think those moments took place. There are moments that are going to be a lot less proud of than others. But we can’t erase the fact they happened.”

But Ryan, the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, just assumed that one man’s historical interpretation means there’s a racist on the loose in Washington that applauds slavery and thinks nothing wrong of its evils. That kind of mindset gets you a job at CNN and prime seating at the White House!

Brooke Baldwin, who also has a job at CNN, put in her two-cents at the end of the clip. Sanders ended the press conference talking about the Russia revelations, making Ryan’s question irrelevant anyway. But Baldwin wanted some action, throwing in her personal “memo” to Sarah Huckabee Sanders: “If she thinks that the press is obsessed with this story, she needs to check her boss’s Twitter feed.”

Baldwin and Ryan — keeping “facts first” over at CNN.
