After spending months grandstanding in support of recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, President Trump offered Democrats a deal: Support funding for a wall on the border, and he’ll protect so-called “Dreamers.”

Democrats had the chance to cut that deal with the omnibus spending bill, but instead chose to sell out “Dreamers” for nothing more than political points. In the omnibus spending bill that is on its way to the U.S. Senate, the funding for the wall was virtually non-existent.
As we reported earlier, the “wall funding” in the bill does nothing more than extend the already existent fence. This is a win for Democrats who largely supported building the existing border fence.
There was a chance for a deal, but Democrats chose not to take it.
