Lawmakers in the state of California proposed legislation last week that would allow non-citizens to lead the Democratic Party, serving in leadership positions at the state and local levels.
Senate Bill 288 (SB288) would remove certain prohibitions against non-citizens participating in party politics. If the legislation is passed, non-citizens could hold positions as state convention delegates and serve in county leadership. Local Democratic Party officials have gleefully talked about the possibility of so-called Dreamers, illegals brought into the country at a young age, having a direct role in determining the future of their party.
