CDC Releases Super Bowl Guidelines: No Chanting or Cheering, Limit Alcohol, Wear Masks At All Times

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released its guidelines for those attending large Super Bowl watch parties as well as those 25,000 lucky fans who get to watch the game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The government agency posted the guidelines on the “Large Gatherings” page of their website. They’re urging you to watch the game “at home with the people you live with,” but if you’re attending a Super Bowl party or going to the game itself, they recommend that you follow several steps, some of which are listed below:

  • Limit the amount of alcohol you drink because it “may make you less likely to follow COVID-19 safety measures.”
  • No chanting or cheering. Instead, bring “hand-held noisemakers,” stomp, or clap.
  • Always wear a mask.
  • Socially distance, avoid crowding and congested areas.
  • Use “touchless payment methods” when buying concessions (or presumably when you help pay for someone’s party as well).
