Today the Newsroom is taking you inside one of the craziest stories of the year that involves a Democratic congressman, cocaine, and a butt dial.
According to legal documents obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation, Rep. Al Green, a Democrat from Texas, had sex with a staffer who he said was a drug addict and then threatened to sue her when she wanted to come forward with claims of a “hostile work environment.”
“So you’ve got this cocaine-addled staffer shaking down a member of Congress and a member of Congress sleeping with her and then suing her,” investigative reporter Luke Rosiak explained. “A totally bizarre tale…it’s easy to laugh at, but at the end of the day, members of Congress really are susceptible to blackmail.”
