Comey Believes President Hillary Wouldn’t Have Fired Him

Aside from everything else, Comey may have been the single dumbest man to hold the Hoover chair.

Axios’ Mike Allen spoke with the former FBI Director and asked him directly if the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate should’ve been charged with a crime. Comey said, “No.”

Though if you ask him next Wednesday, that answer may change.

Allen asked Comey if he wishes Clinton won. Comey thought for a second and said, “That’s not one I’m gonna answer, I don’t think.”

That’s an answer. Also a double negative.

As for how things would be going for him if she had won, Comey said, “I think I would still be the FBI director… Secretary Clinton is someone deeply enmeshed in the rule of law, respect for institutions, a lawyer. And so given that background, I’m reasonably confident that even if she was unhappy with decisions the FBI made, she would not fire the FBI director as a result.”

Hold for laughter.

Hillary Clinton deeply enmeshed in the rule of law. That’s Comey’s takeaway from an investigation in which the subject broke the law, repeatedly, lied about breaking the law, and obstructed the investigation.

But I like the hopeful naivete of Comey that Hillary wouldn’t have fired him. Even though today she would set him on fire.
