Democrats in Oregon have succeeded in eliminating the Electoral College in their state in favor of the NPV, or national popular vote.
On April 9, the Oregon state Senate voted 17-12 to pass legislation (SB 870) to join the National Popular Vote (NPV) compact. On Wednesday, the state House of Representatives voted 37-22 in favor of the legislation. [link]
The governor is expected to sign. Make no mistake, this is the EXACT opposite of what our founders intended. They LOATHED the idea of electing the President by popular vote.
