The rights of states was the original American solution to centralized oppression. A union of individual states could act in the common interest on national issues while preserving the right of states to set their own policies. Too bad that went by the wayside.
Instead we’re stuck with an increasingly centralized government and the increasingly zero sum battles to control it.
Meanwhile, as lefty states increasingly persecute dissent, some are trying to join other states.
Frustrated by liberal policies, some Oregon residents petitioned to leave the state – by moving the border with Idaho westward.
The movement secured initial approval from two counties and aims to get enough signatures to put the proposal on ballots in November, according to the group called Greater Idaho.
