A 92-year-old World War II veteran was blessed by a police officer who went above and beyond after responding to a theft call.
Louis C. Hicks, from Austin, Texas was using the stove in his house to keep warm. After calling the police to report tools being stolen from his shed, Officer Chastity Salazar of the Austin Police Department noticed the unsafe conditions Hicks was living in.
Officer Salazar along with some of her coworkers, came together and bought Hicks a heater for his house, according to Liftable. Not stopping there, the team then had an electric fireplace installed in the house. Another helper, Officer Bino Cadenas, visited Hicks often and found out more things the veteran “wished he could have” – including shirts, underwear, chips and peanuts.
