The member of Congress tapped to replace Rep. Elijah Cummings as chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform recently “suffered a medical episode.”
New York Rep. Carolyn Maloney was in Manhattan when she “suffered a fainting spell” during the public appearance just 10 days ago.
The New York Daily News reported:
Maloney, 73, appeared to be on the verge of blacking out after delivering remarks at a press conference in Chinatown. The Manhattan congresswoman told a staffer that she felt pain and couldn’t see.
Her staff escorted her to a bench where she sat, slumped over, for about 15 minutes as a staffer for Comptroller Scott Stringer called 911.
