Sen. Mazie Hirono (D., Hawaii) admitted to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Monday that she gets her information on what her Republican colleagues are doing with the health care bill from TV.
Blitzer brought up the fact that Sen. Susan Collins (R., Maine) and eight other Republican senators had already expressed serious issues with the health care bill to replace the Affordable Care Act in its current form.
“I know you speak privately with your Republican colleagues. What do you hear from them?” Blitzer asked Hirono.
“Well, mainly I get my news from watching you guys on TV,” Hirono said.
She went on to explain that most of the bill’s dynamics are evolving on the Republican side of the aisle, as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) needs every vote from Republicans to get the bill passed.
