Democrats Have A Choice: Vote For The Wall Or Against Extending the Violence Against Women Act

Tuesday, the Senate GOP released a plan to reopen the federal government in the form of the “End the Shutdown and Secure the Border Act.”

The 1300-plus page bill includes President Donald J. Trump’s proposed $5.7 billion for a wall at the southern border, as well as $12.7 billion in disaster aid, and to reform the U.S. immigration system.

But the bill includes another provision which will likely cause headaches among the Democratic Party.

“Senate GOP bill to reopen gov’t includes extension of the Violence Against Women Act through Sept 30 that expired on December 22, 2018, the first day of the gov’t shutdown,” reported CSPAN’s Craig Caplan.

The Democrats now have to choose which is more important: extending the Violence Against Women Act, or letting it expire in order to deny Trump his big beautiful wall.
