DNC Releases Statement on Keith Ellison Domestic Abuse Allegations After 72 Hours of Silence

Three days ago Karen Monahan’s son, Austin Monahan accused Democrat Party Deputy Chair Keith Ellison of abusing his mother while they were in a relationship.

Fellow Democrat and Minnesotan running against Ellison in the AG primary, Debra Hilstrom, shared the viral Facebook post and demanded that Ellison address the allegations.

72 hours later, the DNC released a statement addressing the domestic abuse allegations against Keith Ellison–that’s right, the Democrat party, the party that touts they’re for women’s rights took over 72 hours to response to allegations one of their top leaders violently abused his girlfriend.

The DNC told NPR in a statement just hours before the polls closed in primary elections in Minnesota:
