Francesco Mangiacapra, a gay Italian escort who recently made international headlines by sending a 1200 page dossier to the to the Archdiocese of Naples, exposing nearly 40 of his clients as Catholic priests, has provided some of his documentation to Big League Politics.
None of the priests were part of the Archdiocese of Naples, so Cardinal Cresenzio Sepe, leader of the Archdiocese, forwarded the information to the Vatican.
Though the identifying factors of the priests are redacted, only the Vatican possesses more information at this time.
The following are the documents in which Mangiacapra names the offending church members. “Don” means “Father,” these are the priests. “Frate” means “Brother,” which is a similar vocation to priesthood, though Catholic Brothers cannot consecrate the eucharist. “Mons.” is an elevated level of priesthood, bestowed upon the priest for exceptional service:
According to Mangiacapra, the priests solicited his services through WhatsApp and the gay dating app Grindr:
Mangiacapra’s dossier includes documents describing his interactions with the priests:
“The aim is not to hurt the people mentioned, but to help them understand that their double life, however seemingly convenient, is not useful to them or to all the people for whom they should be a guide and an example to follow,” Mangiacapra told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
There has been no comment or acknowledgment from the Vatican regarding the dossier.
Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of New York did not return a request for comment.
