Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler will object to the certification of electoral college results that formalize a Joe Biden victory in the presidential election on Tuesday.
“Elections are the bedrock of our democracy and the American people deserve to be 100% confident in our election system and its outcomes,” argued Loeffler in a statement.
“I will vote to give President Trump and the American people the fair hearing they deserve and support the objection to the Electoral College process.”
Loeffler is objecting in her own capacity as a Senator, and is declining to join an electoral commission caucus led by Senator Ted Cruz to challenge the results. Cruz’s commission seeks to create an emergency audit commission to investigate improprieties in the 2020 election in 10 days before proceeding with any certification of electoral college results.
