A grand jury charged with looking into whether former deputy director of FBI Andrew G. McCabe lied to investigators has summoned at least one witness, showing that the investigation is intensifying.
“The presence of the grand jury shows prosecutors are treating the matter seriously, locking in the accounts of witnesses who might later have to testify at a trial,” according to Washington Post. “But such panels are sometimes used only as investigative tools, and it remains unclear if McCabe will ultimately be charged.”
McCabe briefly headed the FBI after James B. Comey was fired last year.
