Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid claimed that Russian hackers supposedly altered vote totals in the 2016 election to ensure Donald Trump’s victory. Reid makes the sensational claim in an upcoming book previewed by a Washington Post reporter.
“I think one reason the elections weren’t what they should have been was because the Russians manipulated the votes. It’s that simple,” said the former Senate Democrat leader. “It doesn’t take a math expert to understand that by changing a few votes, the outcome will be different. So, I have no doubt.”
Reid’s conspiracy has no basis. Even former President Barack Obama spoke before the 2016 election on the impossibility of such an election “hack,” pointing out that the decentralized nature of the American electoral system would render such an electronic operation beyond possibility.
