A U.S. Congressman is demanding that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) produce documents regarding Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage’s trip to the U.S. to attend President Donald Trump’s rally in Tulsa, Okla. this past weekend.
Farage was granted an exemption to a travel ban due to a “national interest” clause and was seen at the rally on Saturday holding a red “Make America Great Again” hat. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), who serves as chair for the homeland security committee, believes this is a scandal that federal resources must be deployed in order to investigate.
“The decision of the Trump Administration to admit Mr. Farage to the United States to enable him to attend a campaign rally at a time when most travel from the United Kingdom to the U.S. has been suspended raises numerous troubling questions, as does the claim that such travel was in the national interest,” Thompson wrote in a letter addressed to acting DHS secretary, Chad Wolf.
