The chairman of the House Freedom Caucus posted on social media his satisfaction with today’s vote in the House to approve the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, 227-203, a significant reworking of the federal tax code and the eighth largest tax cut in U.S. history.
“The Senate will pass the bill later this evening, and following that, it will go to the President’s desk as soon as tonight,” said Rep. Mark R. Meadows (R.-N.C.).
The bill before both chambers is the compromise crafted by the conference committee made up of delegates from the House and the Senate, who were tasked with reconciling the differences between the bills each chamber had previously passed. [..]
