Houston Texans Quarterback and first-round draft pick Deshaun Watson was baptized in Israel’s Jordan River on Monday, touring the country with a pro-Israel group called “American Voices in Israel.” The group organizes tours to Israel for celebrities and religious leaders as a form of ambassadorship for the Middle Eastern country.
Watson is a University of Clemson graduated who was selected by the Texans as the twelfth overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft. He’s started his NFL career with promise thus far, being selected as a Pro Bowl player in his second year in the league.
Watson was baptized in the Holy Land’s famous Jordan River. The river is heavily referenced in scripture, being the site where Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist, an event thought to represent the beginning of Christ’s public ministry. Many Christians have traveled to the site in order to experience a critical moment in the life of their Lord.
