Increased Security At Capitol, ‘Everybody On Edge’

The U.S. Capitol complex was put under increased security after the morning shooting in Virginia at a practice for Republican members of the congressional baseball team.

“The Capitol complex is under higher security at this time,” said a top Hill source.

Top officials are also getting increased security and aides reported that all were safe.

Some congressional hearings are also getting an increase in security, such as the still planned 10 a.m. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs session set to discuss terrorist tactics.

Even staff softball games set for play tonight are being reconsidered amid concerns of a copycat shooter, said one aide.

“They might have to be canceled,” said the aide.

“Everybody here is on edge,” said a Senate aide. “The police are on more edge, everybody’s shook up.”
