It’s a Disgrace, Max Boot Won’t Choose Country Over Party

“It’s a disgrace more Republicans aren’t willing to choose country over partisanship.”

That’s the headline of the latest tendentious Max Boot rant in the Washington Post. You can guess exactly what’s inside. It’s another lecture about treason as patriotism. And patriotism as treason.

But let’s try this again.

It’s a disgrace Max Boot isn’t willing to choose country over partisanship.

In his past life, Boot had agitated endlessly about Syria. When Trump bombed Syria, Boot could hardly be bothered to care. He was too busy writing his 1000th posts on the invented Trump scandals. His takeaway on the bombing was that it wouldn’t work because of the scandals.

Once upon a time, Boot was a historian and analyst. That’s past tense. These days, it’s all Trump scandals. Or, in other words, partisanship.

Boot couldn’t be bothered to care about Syria. Or national security. Or much of anything that doesn’t involve ranting about Trump. And that’s what picking country over partisanship really means.
