Former Vice President Joe Biden released a video addressing the multiple women who say he made them uncomfortable with his seemingly sexual touching, saying he will learn to be more mindful of personal space.
Biden has been embroiled with controversy after at least three women came forward to say his disrespect toward their bodies made them feel uncomfortable, and now he has released a video on Twitter pledging to change and learn to respect personal boundaries.
“I want to talk about gestures of support I’ve made to women and some men that have made them uncomfortable,” said Biden. “In my career I’ve always tried to make a human connection, that’s my responsibility. I shake hands, I huge people, I grab men and women by the shoulders and say you can do this. Women, men, young, old, it’s the way I’ve always been.”
Social norms are changing. I understand that, and I’ve heard what these women are saying. Politics to me has always been about making connections, but I will be more mindful about respecting personal space in the future. That’s my responsibility and I will meet it. pic.twitter.com/Ya2mf5ODts
