Liberal TV host Joy Behar defended late-night comedians and others who remained quiet in the immediate aftermath of the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal, saying GOP supporters and conservatives shouldn’t attack “important” comedians because they’re “on the right side of things.”
Behar was speaking with ‘The View’ cohosts when she weighed-in on the media firestorm surrounding the late-night hosts who viciously smear conservatives yet were oddly silent after Weinstein’s accusers came forward.
“Last week, everyone was saying the late night hosts didn’t mention the Weinstein scandal,” said Sunny Hostin. “But you know they were always making jokes about Roger Ailes and Bill O’Reilly. SNL took a hit for not saying anything. Now you have SNL doing something. You have James Corden doing something, and now it’s, ‘Oh, it’s in poor taste, it’s too soon.’”
“Why?” asked Behar. “Rose McGowan particularly singled-out Corden. I really don’t think that it’s appropriate to attack comedians. I mean, we’re on the right side of things.”
“Also, the comedians are there to say the emperor has no clothes,” Joy added. “We’re important people right now. So, I don’t know why attack comedians.
