Senator Kamala Harris unveiled a bill to lengthen the school day to 6 PM on Wednesday, October 6, 2019.
Leftist outlet Mother Jones argued that this will “modernize” school hours by extending them to better match the working hours of average American adults.
Although most school days end around 3 p.m., many parents don’t get off work until later. On top of that, schools shut down for a number of reasons during the school year. These days off along with summer vacation, “leaves working parents scrambling for day-long care.”
