Media Not Interested in 47 People Shot in Chicago Over the Weekend

Sorry, these are not the shootings we’re interested in. They don’t create the right sort of national dialogue. So we’re not discussing them.

Not even when 47 people get shot over the weekend. After all there’s no manifesto.

Mount Sinai Hospital was forced to stop accepting new patients Saturday night into Sunday morning after a deadly string of shootings that left at least four people killed and 43 more injured in shootings within city limits since Friday evening.

In Lawndale on the West Side, 14 people were shot in three separate incidents over a span of about two hours.

About 1:20 a.m., a group of people were gathered in Douglas Park in the 2900 block of West Roosevelt Road when someone opened fire from a black Camaro, Chicago police said.
