Netflix Plans on Continuing Operations in the Middle East, a Region Where Abortion is Virtually Illegal

Netflix has plans to ramp up production in certain Middle Eastern countries where abortion is illegal or heavily restricted in the wake of Georgia’s “heartbeat” abortion bill.

The media service provider’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos announced earlier this week that the company would “rethink” its Georgia operations if the “heartbeat” abortion bill goes into effect.

Netflix’s hesitance to do business in jurisdictions with stiff pro-life laws apparently does not apply to the Middle East.

According to Variety, the company has been expanding its operations in that region.

Netflix is working on its third Arabic original series, “Paranormal”, which will be produced in Egypt, a country where the practice of abortion faces criminal punishment.
