New York Creates “Safe Spaces” for Shooting Heroin

Safe spaces are all the rage on the left. And so is urban blight.

Public defecation has been legalized in cities like San Francisco. So has homelessness. Marijuana has been legalized. The next step is safe spaces for shooting up heroin. The future is bright. One day we can all live surrounded by mentally ill homeless people shooting up heroin while defecating in public. That’s the leftist utopia.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday evening that the city would push a plan to open so-called safe injection sites for heroin users, part of an effort to reduce an epidemic of deadly drug overdoses across the city.

The mayor indicated up to four sites would operate in New York as part of a one-year pilot effort. The sites would be built into existing needle exchanges without city funding. Among the US cities, only Seattle has said it would use public funds for its facilities, so far.

In an Orwellian twist, Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling the heroin shootup spots, “overdose prevention centers”. The next inevitable step is legalizing medical heroin. And medical crack.

Unleashed, the left has done a fantastic job of reverting everything that had been accomplished and turning the clock back on the urban blight and misery of the seventies.

According to Mohamed, he’s “never been as comfortable as under de Blasio” because no one forces him to leave the park where a miniature carousel spins children around on painted horses and a yoga lesson takes place on the main lawn. These things, the carousel, the yoga lesson and the free Wi-Fi, only exist because the park was restored from its old days as a drug dealing hangout known as Needle Park.

When you have enough Mohameds in the park then the kids, the coffee, the Wi-Fi, the yoga mats and the lunch break crowd goes away to be replaced by junkies, needles, drug dealers, muggers and rapists.

To be homeless in New York City today means three meals a day, a microwave oven, TV, free laundry, free Internet, free health care and a prepaid cell phone with 300 minutes a month.

It’s really strange how homelessness keeps going up in the cities with free everything. Even nice safe spaces to shoot up heroin. It’s a real mystery.
