Pelosi Invites Curry, Warriors to Visit Capitol After Trump Rescinds WH Invite

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) on Tuesday re-upped her invitation to the Golden State Warriors to visit the United States Capitol for their “triumphant victory” winning the 2017 NBA championship.

In a joint letter with Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee (Calif.), who represents the Oakland area where the team is located, Pelosi wrote June 20 they would be “delighted” to welcome the team publicly or personally as families to the Capitol.

“The Golden State Warriors have once again dazzled America with your outstanding performance on the court and inspired us with the leadership you show off the court as well,” Pelosi and Lee wrote. “You make the Bay Area and indeed the country deeply proud.”

She tweeted it out on Tuesday, writing “the offer still stands.”

Pelosi appeared to single out Warriors guard and two-time Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry in her tweet as a dig at President Donald Trump, who blasted Trump in a tweet over the weekend, rescinding an invitation for the whole team to visit the White House.

“Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team,” Trump tweeted on Saturday. “Stephen Curry is hesitating, therefore invitation is withdrawn!”

Curry had said a day earlier that he would vote against the Warriors visiting the White House, a tradition for championship teams.
