White House press secretary Sarah Sanders scoffed at Nancy Pelosi’s package of bills to end the federal government shutdown without providing $5 billion to President Donald Trump for his magnificent Wall on the southern border. Trump is meeting with congressional leaders at 3 PM Wednesday, and the press is trumpeting the fact that they have no press access to the meeting — preventing Trump from surprising Pelosi and Chuck Schumer with another spirited standoff in front of the media.
“Speaker Designate Nancy Pelosi released a plan that will not re-open the government because it fails to secure the border and puts the needs of other countries above the needs of our own citizens,” Sanders stated.
“The Pelosi plan is a non-starter because it does not fund our homeland security or keep American families safe from human trafficking, drugs, and crime,” said the White House official.
