Texas Mall Terrorist: “The Security Guards Don’t Even Have Guns LMAO”

I have an 58 against the Stonebridge Centre, a mall in Frisco, Texas.

One part of the attack plot that hasn’t been widely discussed is how the perpetrator, Matin Azizi-Yarand, was very concerned about whether he would run into anyone with guns.

But finally he settled on the Stonebriar Centre, a shopping mall in nearby Frisco. He collected pictures and scouted the mall. “The security guards don’t even have guns lmao,” he messaged.

Matin worried that the civilians in the mall might have concealed weapons. And he made plans for ambushing the one armed officer in the mall. “I’d actually like to make a cop surrender and drop his gun, then douse him with gasoline and burn him.”

The area has a large Muslim community and Matin didn’t want to harm the Muslim “sisters” who frequented the mall. So he decided to attack during Ramadan, “iftar time//to limit Muslim casualties.”

Matin was very focused on the potential risks.

He initially considered an attack on a Hindu temple in an area where he thought that the police response would be slow. He zeroed in on security at the mall. He noted gleefully that mall security had pepper spray, but no firearms. He carefully tracked the armed police officer and formulated plans to ambush him. He and the informant he was talking to were also worried about concealed carry by mall shoppers.

“I scouted it out. The security guards don’t even have guns lmao. I saw 3, 2 in one pair alone, they just have some pepper spray,” Matin messaged.

“Security I checked… pepper spray… counted 3 security, 1 cop upstairs with an actual gun, in movie theatre area, yes yes real cop real gun, not pretend cops.”

The CHS mentioned the possibility that patrons in the mall could be carrying concealed weapons and could draw those weapons when the operation begins.

Matin stated, “I wonder if we should get pistols.” Matin then stated that he did not believe a cop would “try and take us on”. And noted that during the recent school shooting, the security officer at the school “ran outside.”

Matin sent the UCE a photograph from the shopping mall and stated, “Found their security office, also, we saw a cop, he had a glock and two mags back up, along with tazer and mace papper spray.”

A key lesson here is that shooters do take into account the likelihood of armed opposition. It was the main thing that Matin was worried about.

They will scout out a target, note whether the guards are armed and armed civilians are also a deterrent.
