Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine accepted a vacation valued at $18,000 in the home of a campaign donor on the Carribean island of Mustique, where Prince William and wife Kate Middleton are currently staying.
The vacation was one of the numerous gifts totaling $160,000 that Kaine took during his tenure as Virginia’s lieutenant governor and governor, before his entry to the U.S. Senate. The gifts included lavish dinners, thousands of dollars in clothing, travel expenses, basketball tickets, and a baccarat crystal vase that Kaine listed as having $0 in value — which is certainly not true.
Kaine spent a week in Mustique for free at the home of donor James B. Murray Jr., a cellphone-industry partner of Democratic Sen. Mark Warner.
