President Donald Trump’s administration is cutting off abortion group Planned Parenthood from accessing Paycheck Protection Program stimulus funds, new reporting from the Daily Signal has revealed.
“President Trump is committed to ensuring Paycheck Protection Program money is used for saving jobs at small businesses, not getting the government into the business of funding abortion,” said an unnamed government official of the prospect of Planned Parenthood accessing stimulus funds. “While not all Americans share President Trump’s pro-life beliefs, there is broad bipartisan support for the idea that American taxpayers should not have to fund abortion.”
The official explained that the federal government is recognizing Planned Parenthood as a sole business with almost 16,000 employees nationwide. The abortion group legally structures itself in local affiliates that could potentially apply for stimulus money on the basis of being small businesses, but applications for the program will recognize them as an element of the national entity.
