85-year-old Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been absent from the Supreme Court all week following a major surgery to remove cancerous tumors from her lungs.
Monday was the first day that she missed oral arguments for reasons other than recusing herself. On Tuesday, she missed Justice Brett Kavanaugh delivering his first opinion in the court.
Although Ginsburg is working from home using transcripts and briefs, her absence from the bench and ill health has the Trump White House quietly planning her imminent departure.
According to sources who spoke to Politico, the Trump White House “is taking the temperature on possible short-list candidates, reaching out to key stakeholders, and just making sure that people are informed on the process. […]
