During the Democratic Party debates on September 12, 2019, Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke called for the confiscation of AR-15s.
O’Rourke made sure to stress that no right is absolute during the debates. Above all, he used gun rights as his example.
He declared, “I think the precedent and common sense is pretty clear on this, that none of our rights are absolute; that there are some common sense limitations to them.
”The former congressman then suggested, ““you can’t own a grenade launcher or a bazooka,” therefore, you ought not be able to own an AR-15.
”The major highlight of the debate was when O’Rourke declared his support for confiscating AR-15s and AK-47s. He even resoundingly exclaimed, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15 and AK-47.”
