The Young Democrats of North Carolina issued a press release threatening violence if the city is selected to host the 2020 Republican National Convention.
“Any potential claim to an economic impact from the Convention will undoubtable be outweighed by the civil unrest and reputational harm we would receive [sic] from welcoming Trump’s divisive rhetoric to our community,” the release says.
YDNC tweeted the whole press release.
“YDNC and the [Mecklenburg County Young Democrats] are standing up and saying no to #RNC2020 in Charlotte,” the group tweeted. “Trump’s GOP does not stand for NC and Charlotte values.
“‘Donald Trump’s Republican Party does not reflect the values of our city,’ said Young Democrats of Mecklenburg County President Jonathan Peebles,” the post reads.
