Democrats simply can’t let go of their phony impeachment.
They’re far too emotionally invested to let go, so even when the Senate acquits Trump this coming week, they are going to say it doesn’t count because they’ve got nothing else.
The narrative is already taking shape.

Leading Democrats have already said President Donald Trump’s pending acquittal in his impeachment trial is not legitimate due to Friday’s vote against admitting new witnesses.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said Thursday Trump will “not be acquitted” if his trial doesn’t have witnesses, and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) has repeatedly said Trump’s acquittal will have “zero” value.
