What’s Going On With the Airlines – w/ Jim Riehl – Ep. 885

On Today’s Episode –

Mark and Matt start us out on today’s political topics.  We then jump right to our guest.

Jim Riehl joins us and Mark dives right into talking about his past, and some of the pains in the airline / pilot world.  The required airline retirement age is causing a problem.  All these experienced pilots are being forced out, and the new pilots coming in are just super lacking in experience with a real commercial jet full of people.

Jim throws some data at us that is just astonishing…you have to tune in for this truth bomb.

Tune in for all the fun

James Riehl (Jim) is a retired airline captain and former military aviator with decades of experience in aviation and safety leadership.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, Jim spent 15 years as a United States Marine Corps KC-130 pilot, achieving the rank of Major before retiring from the USMC in 1995. During this time, he was formally trained as an aviation safety officer, serving in that role for 11 years.
In 1988, he began a parallel career with Delta Air Lines, where he flew for 36 years, retiring in 2024 as an A-350 captain. Over a 45-year aviation career, he logged more than 25,000 flight hours across aircraft from Lockheed, Boeing, McDonnell Douglas, and Airbus, operating in 195 countries and austere locations with a perfect record—zero violations, zero accidents, zero failed medical exams.
