Comrade Bernie Calls for Taxpayers to Cough Up $146 Billion to Fix Puerto Rico

Democrats have been like circling vultures ever since Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico in September.

The antiquated power grid and infrastructure of the already bankrupt U.S. territory took a fatal blow and the cynical Dems have been salivating over the prospects of flipping Florida due to the influx of refugees.

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz quickly emerged as a sock puppet critic of President Trump and is rumored to be in the running for the coveted “Person of the Year” award from Time magazine.  To the Democrats, there is no amount of pandering to Puerto Rico that is too much considering the potential electoral benefits but what a certain mangy closet communist is proposing is mind-boggling.

2020 Democratic party contender and raging Vermont crank Bernie Sanders is calling for U.S. taxpayers to fork over a staggering $146 BILLION to fix Puerto Rico.

Via the Hill “Sanders to present $146B plan to help Puerto Rico”:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) is reportedly planning to unveil a relief package for Puerto Rico, which is still recovering after a hurricane tore through the island earlier this year.

Sanders will unveil the $146 billion bill on Tuesday, according to The Washington Post.

He hopes that 70 percent of the island’s energy needs within the next 10 years will be provided through renewable power sources as a result of the plan, according to the Post.

The bill would also give the island more federal funding for healthcare, education and transportation.

“This is the closest we have to a Marshall Plan for Puerto Rico,” said Ramón Luis Nieves, a former member of the Senate of Puerto Rico.

The plan would allot money for helping the island to pay off its debt and for infrastructure. It also targets $51 billion for economic development.

“More than two months after Hurricane Maria, in the wealthiest nation in the history of the world, most of the homes in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are still without electricity. This is beyond belief,” Sanders told the Post.

“Congress must work with the people of Puerto Rico to fundamentally transform its expensive, antiquated and unreliable system.”

President Trump faced criticism in the past over the federal government’s response to the devastation on the island, as people struggled without access to clean water or power.

Sanders’s bill is backed by San Juan Mayor Yulin Cruz, according to the Post.

As we have already seen, Comrade Sanders is a human freebie dispensing machine which is why the young and millennials absolutely love him.

There is nothing like the promise of free college tuition, free healthcare, $15 an hour minimum wage for burger flippers and even a basic universal income that appeals to the freeloaders who could care less who gets bilked to pay for their lives of sloth and lack of ambition.

Crazy Bernie will be introducing his ten-year plan on Tuesday.
