New York police arrested and charged a 19-year-old woman with making a false statement after she alleged she was confronted by Trump-loving teens and later found her tire.
Adowa Lewis told Nassau County police she was the victim of a hate crime around 11:15 p.m. on September 1, as she drove down Jackson Street in Baldwin, New York, where she alleged four teens shouted “Trump 2016!” and told her she didn’t belong, PIX11 reports.
“She further claimed she parked her car in front of her house and when she woke up, she found a slashed tire and a note on her car that stated ‘Go Home,’” according to a police news release.
Police conducted an “extensive investigation” only to determine that Lewis is a liar and the alleged altercation never occurred. Police said she also admitted to writing the note herself, though her motivation remains unclear, WCVB reports.
