In a highly contentious race that captured that attention of the attention of the nation, Keith Ellison won the Minnesota Attorney General race against Republican Doug Wardlow Tuesday night.
Ellison, the DFL candidate, has faced domestic abuse allegations that have plagued his campaign.
With 100% of precincts reporting, Ellison won 49% to Wardlow’s 45%. Ellison surged to an early lead based on early returns from the metro area, including the ‘Twin Sanctuary Cities” of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, which has a large Muslim population.
Noah Johnson was also on the ballot, running as the Grassroots-legalize marijuana candidate who later asked voters to vote for Ellison.
