Exploring the Constitution with Professor Adam Winkler, Part 6 – Amendments 4–8 – Episode 426

On this episode of Blunt Force Truth, Chuck and Mark are joined by Professor Adam Winkler to continue their exploration of the United States Constitution. Today they cover the 4th–8th Amendments.

They start off discussing the protections and limitations granted to citizen by the 4th Amendment. Professor Winkler explains the protections an individual has during a run-in with law enforcement. He also explains how the Fourth Amendment relates to personal privacy.

Chuck and Mark move to discussing the Fifth Amendment and its two main protections for individual’s rights. Professor Winkler explains what a grand jury can do, the two main protections of the Fifth Amendment, and the difference of an inditement and charges.

Their conversation moves into Sixth Amendment and the protections it grants to criminal defendants. Professor Winkler explains each of the protections provided by the Sixth Amendment, and they discuss how it plays into the Mueller Investigation.

They wrap-up with a quick exploration of the Eighth Amendment. They discuss how the Eighth Amendment has become very popular as of late and is a focus of those pushing for criminal justice reform.
