While Democrats and Republicans alike criticized President Trump’s response to the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday, Rep. Maxine Waters took things a step further when she accused the White House of having become “the White Supremacists’ House.”
“Trump has made it clear – w/ Bannon & Gorka in the WH, & the Klan in the streets, it is now the White Supremacists’ House. #Charlottesviille,” she said on Twitter, referring to White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and deputy assistant to the president Sebastian Gorka.

“Trump refuses to condemn white supremacists & terrorists who showed up in Charlottesville. Is he sending a signal? Everyone must be careful,” Waters added.

One person died Saturday during a white supremacist rally when a car plowed through a crowd of counter-protesters. Nearly 20 others were injured.
Trump failed to specifically call out the white supremacist groups in his denunciation of the violence Saturday, saying “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides. On many sides.”
“It’s been going on for a long time in our country,” he added. “Not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. This has been going on for a long, long time.”
“No, Trump. Not on many sides, your side,” Waters tweeted.

The California Democrat, in her Twitter tirade against the president, also brought up comments he made when violence broke out at one of his rallies on the campaign trail.
“Don’t forget, Trump offered to pay legal fees for those who attacked protesters at his rallies,” she said. “Will he be making that same offer now?”

She also questioned his ties to former KKK leader David Duke.
“Trump claimed he didn’t know D. Duke, but Duke said white supremacist rally was done to fulfill Trump’s promises,” Waters tweeted. “Do you know him now,Trump?”
